Hat Pin With Antique Satsuma Ware top 2 Inches Long Flowering Tree Birds Flowers Blue White Gold Orange 9 Inches Total Length
This very old Satsuma ware six sided polygon design features a lush flowering tree with dark blue, white, and gold outlined blossoms with a large golden black bird perched on one of the branches. There is a smaller golden black bird in flight and it appears it is aimed towards the branches near the other bird. The bottom half of the approximately 2" inches long earthenware focal point is thick groups of royal blue and burnt orange flowers with their golden leaves.
The top of the hat pin has a gold painted rim and features a lovely purple multi-petal flower (chrysanthemum) with periwinkle blue flower buds and gold accented leaves.
The bottom is painted with a gold rim with the original 7” inches long hat pin. The total length is 9” inches. The bottom of the pin is a bit rusted but that can easily be remedied with a gentle polishing. I will be happy to do this with no additional.
This is part of a wonderful old New Orleanian Family Estate. My estimate is the hat pin is from the period between 1900 and 1925.
