This Napier Company silver tone choker necklace was purchased in the mid 1970 at Gus Mayer Department Store located in downtown New Orleans on Canal Street. The owner purchased it when she was an employee working in the accessories department which was located across the customer aisle from the fine costume jewelry department.
This focal point reminds me of a boomerang shape and is 4 inches wide and 1 inch high. This piece has elegant form with a high polished silver and a textured hammered surface finish. The sleek 5 millimeters wide double boomerang shaped link chain is 2 mm thick, 15 inches long and is in excellent vintage condition.
The unique detail of Napier’s jewelry was often the result of designs created in Napier’s Wire and Metal Bending Department. These designs were either hand-formed, or created with the assistance of a jig to bend into the desired shape. No two pieces of jewelry were exactly alike.
