This Fleur de Lis bangle bracelet is created from a mold in the Mon Coeur’s collection of beloved antique and vintage objects. This Fleur was inspired from the tip of a fence post in the New Orleans Garden District. A mold was created to make wax models of the object. The next steps, hand-carve the waxes, refine the design, and create second prototype. After we're satisfied, with the carving, a mold is made, and cast in a precious metal. We end with the finishing process.
The Garden Delight Fleur is one inch long and one-half inch wide. The bracelet encircles the arm with 2.5 millimeter thick round sterling silver wire. It can be worn on the wrist and above the elbow. This bracelet is adjustable and weighs 18.3 grams.
The Fleur de Lis has been a symbol for the city of New Orleans ever since the city’s birth. Meaning Lily in French, the emblem of the Fleur de Lis was associated with the Duke D’Orleans and was incorporated into the city’s flag. After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Fleur de Lis became a symbol of support for the city and unity among all who love her.
