For the Lakota people the horse 'Shunka Wakan' embodies the concept of generosity. Featured on this necklace is a hand-made sterling silver pendant with two galloping stylized horses on the top of a medicine wheel design. The pendant then securely holds a bezel set genuine oval agate gemstone that measures 31millimeters across, 22 mm long, 5 mm thick. The sterling pendant is 2 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide. Finally, it is finished boldly with two tassels of horsehair dangling 2 1/2 inches long. The pendant's beautiful agate looks like a distant view of a dark mountain at dusk. Paha' Sa'pa in Lakota translate to "Black Hills." Signed "Paha Sapa '89, stamped Sterling, LM, and incised '12 KF." The necklace is twenty-one (21) inches long. |
