The Apollo in Profile pendant is set in an original MC frame embellished with genuine gemstones: one 4 millimeters round rose-cut citrine, and one 7 mm x 5 mm x 3 mm oval Garnet. The pendant drapes securely from a sterling silver 2.3 mm rose-gold electroplated cable chain, that measure 2 1/2 inches long x 1 7/8 inches wide x 3 mm thick.
The 18 inches long necklace is finished with a sterling silver rose-gold 14 K/20 plated lobster clasp and jump ring. The total weight of the necklace weight is 29.1 grams.
The Apollo necklace features the Sun god in profile with the rays of the sun radiating from his head. This first generation bronze casting from Mon Coeur’s rare collection of intaglio impressions is framed in a bronze MC signature frame.
The original plaster of Paris impression used to make the mold to create the Apollo necklace. Is one of our 500 intaglio impressions we collected from, the avid art collector, Polish Prince Stanislaus Poniatowski 2,500 commissioned gem intaglios.
Poniatowski lived in Rome between 1754 and 1833. These miniature masterpieces are original art that was inspired by reading ancient Greek literature and mythology of the god, goddess, heroes, and heroines.
This impression collection was previous owned by UK General Sir Alexander Walker (1764-1831) and his son William Stuart Walker (1817-1896). The collection was held in a small wooden curio case being admired by a select few.
